We are a public K-12 rural district in southwest Michigan, with an average class size of 20 students. We are seeking an energetic individual who is passionate about teaching math to students in grades 9-12. 

 

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in math education, certified in the State of Michigan. Will consider candidates enrolled in alternative routes to teacher certification programs or people with a bachelor’s degree in math considering teaching as a profession. 

 

Specific assignment: Grades 9-12 math courses

Salaried position: Starting $36,358 - $48,495

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a positive, engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriately responds to the maturity level and interests of students
  • Participate in professional development, maintain appropriate certification and qualifications
  • Participate in collegial conversations surrounding student achievement on a regular basis, influencing individual, grade, and and/or department instruction based on collective examination student performance
  • Teach district-approved curriculum, as well as local and state standards using contemporary thinking around best practices and specific objectives
  • Encourage positive behaviors and teach appropriate behavior expectations in the classroom
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, families and administration in advocacy of student growth
  • Adhere to district policies and procedures and enforce student handbook rules
  • Conduct behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism
  • Maintain regular predictable in-person attendance
