Requirements: Bachelor's degree in math education, certified in the State of Michigan. Will consider candidates enrolled in alternative routes to teacher certification programs or people with a bachelor’s degree in math considering teaching as a profession.
Specific assignment: Grades 5-8; four hours of math; two hours of math interventions and/or specials based on teacher’s skill sets
Salaried position: Starting $36,358 - $48,495
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create a positive, engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriately responds to the maturity level and interests of students
- Participate in professional development, maintain appropriate certification and qualifications
- Participate in collegial conversations surrounding student achievement on a regular basis, influencing individual, grade, and and/or department instruction based on collective examination student performance
- Teach district-approved curriculum, as well as local and state standards using contemporary thinking around best practices and specific objectives
- Encourage positive behaviors and teach appropriate behavior expectations in the classroom
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities
- Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, families and administration in advocacy of student growth
- Adhere to district policies and procedures and enforce student handbook rules
- Conduct behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism
- Maintain regular predictable in-person attendance
